SkyWatch Friday

Here's my weekly contribution to SkyWatch!

This photo was taken on our holiday to Tasmania in March 2011 and features the historic Wesley Church - now Uniting Church - which was built in 1885 in the township of Ross.  What a simply stunning piece of architecture this is!  Not to mention the actual township of Ross itself - there's history around every corner!

Back to my Church photo, I decided to have a little play around with the photo digitally to see what it looked like in black & white - what do you think?  I don't mind it actually - it certainly places emphasis on the detailed stone work!

I must admit I was very slack not getting around to sharing many of our favourite photos from our trip to Tasmania last year - believe me - there were a great many of them to sort through!  Would you believe I haven't even gotten them printed!  How slack is that!  I've definitely got it on my 'To Do List' for this year!  Stay tuned for me to start working my way through them all and sharing a few favourites too!

SkyWatch Friday

Here's my weekly contribution to SkyWatch!

Back in early November, with our typical windy weather, the boys decided that they should invest in some new kites.  Whilst they did the flying, I laid on the ground and tried to capture some photos of the the kites flying against those fast moving clouds & gorgeous blue sky!

Sky Watch Friday - Tasmania

My contribution for Sky Watch Friday is a view towards home from the northern shores of Tasmania.  What a wonderful 5 week holiday we enjoyed there in March/April of this year.

Sky Watch - Kitchen Window View

Today for Sky Watch I thought I would share the view I get to enjoy from my Kitchen Window . . . on this particular day with isolated storms about, the sky looked quite spectacular!

SkyWatch - Ring Around The Moon

Here's my SkyWatch contribution for this week - it captures a ring around the moon that we were able to see a little over a week ago!

Apparently, a ring around the moon indicates that there is a layer of microscopic ice crystals high in the atmosphere and it can indicate bad weather approaching!

Sky Watch - Sunset Skies

My contribution for Sky Watch this week is a sunset view from our front garden!

It's probably not the sharpest image I've ever captured but I love how the moon features in it!

SkyWatch - Tathra, NSW - Australia

My SkyWatch contributions this week were taken on our recent holiday to Tathra on the NSW South Coast.

All these photos were taken on the same day, in opposite directions and within 15 minutes of each other - we were presented with the most wonderful colours overhead!

It's been a while since I joined in SkyWatch but here's my contribution for this week . . . a view across our property towards the western skies.

I love capturing the sun rays like that!

Skywatch

I haven't joined in Skywatch for quite some time BUT last weekend when I was out on the Bairnsdale Kart Club track taking photos during the 'Open', I couldn't resist capturing the sky at the time. We'd had a little rain earlier on and it looked like more was on the way BUT thankfully it stayed away!

Here's another view a short time later too!

Sky Watch - Sunset through a smokey haze

I've missed a couple of Sky Watch contributions BUT I thought I would share one this week with a photo I took earlier tonight of the sun setting in a somewhat smokey sky!

As you can see the very bottom of the sun is just finding it's way clear of the smokiness to shine a little more brightly!

On the homefront, James di really well at the Inter School Sports today - he was in the 4 x 50m Freestyle Relay and whilst the team finished in 5th position, James was the first in his team to swim and actually completed his leg of the race in 3rd position! Whilst totally out of breath at the end, he said he was really pleased with how he'd swam! As you can imagine we were too!

The boys also had their very last game of the Under 11's Cricket tonight too - their team did lose BUT James inparticular had a great game - he remained 6 not out, was involved in running out a member of the other team AND he also took a caught & bowled himself! He told us tonight "Gee I'm having a good week aren't I?" *grin*
