February 'ScrappIt Now' - Easter Mini Album

Today I thought I would share another of the projects that I created for the February 'ScrappIt Now' Newsletter and that I'll give to my niece when I see her in a month or two!

It's quite a simple album BUT it will mean that it is perfect for little hands too!

The album itself only measures 2.5" x 4" and has chipboard pages inside that I've covered on both sides with pattern paper.

I used a few clear alphabet stickers to add the 'Easter 2007' on the insdie and then every page thereafter features a full sized photo!

I had intented to add ribbons to the rings but it just made it too difficult to open the album. I'm thinking I might add a little collection of charms to the top ring instead - I'll just have to keep my eyes open to find something suitable!

In other news, I've still been keeping up with my daily appointment with the treadmill and I've also been getting out into the garden more too - it's amazing how quickly the weeds start growing when you get a little rain! This weekend sees as at a 40th birthday party tomorrow night and then James has his first round of Go Kart racing as a Rookie driver on Sunday!

12 Days of 2010

There's a new competition running for the next 6 months at Scrappit:

To enter all you need to do is create a page (any size is acceptable - 6 x 6, 8 x 8 or 12 x 12) per month about your day to day routine.

Each month for 6 months we will be giving away a Scrappit shopping voucher for $20.00 to a RANDOMLY selected winner.  Each of our monthly winners will then by put in the draw for our biggest and best prize yet - the major prize will be;announced soon.

Even before this competition was announced, I had decided that this year I was going to create a '12 Days of 2010' Mini Album which would showcase one day in every month throughout the whole of 2010.

The album I've chosen to use measures 6" x 7.5" and has a ring binder enclosure inside.

Rather than randomly choosing a day to document, I decided on the 9th day of every month so that firstly I wouldn't forget to do an entry one month AND also so that one of my entries would co-incide with my birthday later in the year and I can document it.

I've decided that both the inside and outside of my album will be decorated with the same pattern paper - Kaisercraft - thus giving the whole thing a uniform kind of look despite each entry being of a different page design.

I'll be featuring my January and February entries in next weeks Scrappit Newsletter, so you'll have to wait until next week to see what they are like!

'Scrapping Clearly' Acrylic Album

Last year I was invited by the very lovely Kylie Tout to create with one of her Scrapping Clearly Acrylic Albums. If my memory serves me correct, I don't think I ever got around to sharing my creation with you so I thought I would do it today! Oh - and yes, that's yours truly in the arms of her Dad on the cover and featured throughout the album too!

I've used a Scrapping Clearly 8 x 8 Scalloped Acyrlic Album. I loved the scalloped edge and decided to keep everything focussed in the centre and only allow some Stazon stamped scrolls and leaves to venture out near the scallop edge.

The flowers were stamped, cut out and then filled in with hand stitched detail and KaiserCraft Pearl centres.

As you can see, each page only features a little pattern paper and a photo - I really wanted to maintain as much of the clear album as I could!

I'm not sure if you've noticed but I've actually rotated the location of the pattern paper blocks on the front of each page - firstly they feature on the left, then the top, then the right and then the bottom. The back of every page has everything placed directly over the top of the pieces on the front!

July 'ScrappIt Now' - Mini Albums/Books

Have you taken a peak at the gorgeous July 'ScrappIt Now' Kit? It features the very gorgeous Bo Bunny Calypso Collection and I must admit, whilst the colours are quite bold, they are certainly a pleasure to get creative with!

Here are two simple Mini Albums/Books that I created, instructions for which you can find in the July 'ScrappIt Now' Newsletter, that only use a single sheet of Bazzill cardstock for the inside pages of each one!

The first one features a single concertina insert.

Here's a close-up of the cover detail too! I just added a little paint to the Scrap FX frame and then combined a number of Blossoms with Kaisercraft Pearls for the centres, scattered around it!

The second Mini Album is more like a Mini Book because whilst I've made it nearly same (aside from a couple of measurement alterations for the cover) all I did was adhere the backs of the concertina insert together!

Clearly *Sneak Peaks*

I promised the other day that I would share some *Sneak Peaks* of a project I have been working on - well here they are!

Our local Spotlight store had some 'new' American Crafts Foam Thickers in stock and they ended up being the perfect match for this project - I just love their size and the actual font too!

As you can see, I've been busy hand sewing again on all the large flowers - oh and that little baby in the photo is none other than - yep - yours truly! That might give you a little hint - yes, it's a 'Me' project that I've been working on!

I'm afraid that's all I can share with you at the moment BUT I can't wait to share the whole project with you soon!

Well - it's Longford Scrappers today, so I had better finish getting myself organised!

'Fabulously 40' Guest Book Album

As I mentioned earlier in the week, we're off to a Masquerade Ball tonight and the host is none other than my dear friend Donna from High School!

Here's the little project I have been working on for her - a 'Fabulously 40' Guest Book Album!

I started off with a chipboard 'Sara Binder' which I decorated and then added a heap of white Bazzill pages to. The Binder also came with some pocket sleeves which I have left in the back so that she can add a collection of photos after her 'Big Night'.

As you can see, I've also created a space inside the front cover for her to add a photo of herself - complete with all her make-up and masquerade mask as well!

The flowers were stamped before having a little hand stitched detail added to each one and a few KaiserCraft pearls as well!

I hope she likes it! Happy 40th Birthday Donna!

In other news, I overlooked mentioning in Wednesday's post that we had our Angora Goat - 'Nanny Girl' - put down. She had a skin cancer on her nose that had become quite severe and because of her age I decided it was better that we be kind to her and just have her to sleep. Whilst I kind of guessed that was how things might end up when I called the vet to come out earlier in the day, I still felt somewhat flat afterwards. At least she is no longer suffering . . .

I spotted this idea over on Tina's blog and thought it would actually make for a wonderful Mini Album. Her idea was to take the 26 days of December in photographs, trying to find something to represent each letter of the alphabet on its corresponding date on the calendar.

'Darkroom Door' Robot Mini Album

Well - the November 'ScrappIt Now' kit has been released and along with it, so too has the accompanying newsletter, so I can finally share the projects that I had been working on and that I only gave you *sneak peaks* of!

I just loved the 'Darkroom Door' Robot collection of pattern papers and film strips and new that they would be perfect to create a little wooden mini album for Adam!

The robot on the front has been coloured with watercolour pencils - I tried to pick up on the colours that were in the background pattern paper as much as I could!

I added a bit of inking to the edges here and there!

The robots on the tabs were actually punched for the cute little 'Darkroom Door' filmstrips!

I decided to give the whole album a coat of matt clear sealer to help make it a little more durable and last that bit longer - well hopefully anyway!

Friendship 'Flip Album'

Some of you might remember the cute little 'Flip Album' that I shared last month? Well - here is another that I've made for an 'old' friend, who is unfortunately going through a relationship break-up at the moment - it's a 4 x 4 'Friendship' Flip Album.

Here's the verse I've included on the inside - it's one that I received via email and adapted just a little!

 

Sometimes in life, you find a special friend;

Someone who changes your life just by being part of it.

Someone who makes you laugh until you can't stop;

Someone who makes you believe that there is good in the world.

Someone who convinces you that there is an unlocked door just waiting for you to open it.

That person is YOU!

I actually showed my Longford Scrappers group how to make these at our last scrapbooking day - it's just taken me a little while to get back to the project and finish it off - *grin*

As you can see, I've really 'BLINGED' up the front cover - the pattern paper has lovely glitter highlights on it and I've then added gorgeous bling brads, bling & pearl trims and a cute little heart charm too! I hope she likes it!

A Cute 'Flip Album'

I recently found a video on 'You Tube' (scroll down for the link) to make this gorgeous little 'Flip Album' and I was quite taken by the simple design and the fact that I could use my 'Bind It All' to put it all together! With Christmas approaching I thought that they would make perfect little Christmas gifts too!

Here's a couple of close-up images too!

At our next Longford Scrappers day, those that would like to do so, will be able to make one of these for themselves! All the details (including materials required on the day) are in the Longford Scrappers section of my blog! I'm sure everyone who joins in the fun will have a great time with this little project - I must remember to take the camera!

EDITED - I'm so sorry - whilst the video was available this morning when I was first creating this post, it now comes up with a message saying that it is no longer available - I'm not sure why? The original video that I found was posted here along with a few other interesting ideas as well!
