Some of you would know that I hold a Diploma of Teaching in Early Childhood Education and that I was a local Pre-School Teacher for 9 years prior to leaving on Maternity Leave whilst I was 6 months pregnant with James and then later resigning completely. As you may have now worked out, that was some 9 years ago itself! It's amazing how time flies! I've now been out of the profession as long as I was teaching in it!
Today I had the opportunity to attend an Early Childhood Conference that was being held locally - thanks Sophie - and I have to say that it really did inspire me to want to get back into the profession. Mind you, I don't want to go back to full-time work because I still want to be involved with the boys at school BUT I'm leaning towards the side of Relief Teaching for next year.
There is apparently a huge demand for it in our area and it's something that I would be able to decide on the day whether or not I was available OR if I already had prior committments or had one (or even both) of the boys at home sick. It would give me a little flexability whilst still having a foot in the profession - if you know what I mean.
So - next term I'll be looking into a first aid update and a couple of other things I need to do BEFORE I can then make contact with the Early Childhood Centres in the area to let them know that I'll be available!
On the homefront - the boys had their first cricket training after school and had an absolute ball - *grin* - and are really looking forward to getting in some practice over the school holidays!
Until next time,
