Well - it's a little cooler today and the wind is nothing like it was yesterday but it's still very smokey. It would be nice to open up the house and let in some of the coolness BUT unfortunately we just can't and have the air conditioning and fans going once again.
As I mentioned in yesterday's post, we had a little rain overnight BUT it was what is called 'Black Rain' - meaning that everything has a lovely layer of ash all over it now. Here's how our pool looks - doesn't that just look so inviting? NOT!
You can just imagine what our house roof, shed, paths, clothesline, etc all look like! I guess that's nothing compared to the hundreds of people who have been left homeless or who have lost their loved ones and friends as a result of these horrific fires.
Whilst the threat to us has temporarily eased, other parts of the State have not been so fortunate. Many fires are still burning out of control and many more houses & lives are being lost. They are prediciting this to be worse than the Ash Wednesday Fires of 16 February 1983! I wonder what tomorrow will bring?
Until next time,
