I thought I would give a little update on the Bushfire crisis - last night we had a local community fire meeting and it was absolutely packed out – everyone standing shoulder to shoulder, chest to back - so much so that not everyone could fit into our hall and there were many people still out in the car park where a second meeting was apprently held as well.
The information reiterated much of what we already new BUT did confirm that the fire front is less than 50kms away from us AND with the current wind conditions (last night) was headed our way . . . there was quite a bit of talk about what will happen if the fire gets into the Holey Plains National Park and then into the Pine Plantation . . . but unfortunately, aside from making sure we are really prepared with our bushfire survival plans and cleaning up a little more where we can, there isn’t much more we can do at the moment – it’s just a waiting game . . . infact, we were told that we could even be 'playing' this game for several weeks yet because unless we have significant rain, the fires around the State are unfortunately going to continue to burn for quite some time!
On a personal note, I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has emailed or made contact via phone or SMS to see that we are OK - your kind words and thoughts do mean so much. Thankfully at the moment we have cooler temperatures - low 20C's (about 68F) which is a big difference to the 40C temperatures of last week. The winds have eased and today have turned to the SE which means the fire front has been turned, temporarily, away from us but obviously towards others.
On a brighter and happier note, some of you might remember some sneak peak photos of these cards I made last year.
Apologies for the colour of the last photo - I hadn't taken a photo of that particular card at the time I took the others and it would seem that the smokey sky we have now is affecting the lighting!
Anyway - all three of these cards are featured in the current issue of For Keeps Creative Paper - Issue 75!
ALSO in this issue is an advertorial feature that I was asked to contribute to using products provided by Finishing Touch Ideas
Here's one of the pages which features a gorgeous photo taken by Mary Warner - thanks Mary for letting me scrap your gorgeous little girls and I'm so glad that you liked the page when you saw it in real life too!
There's also this page featuring photos of my niece that were taken by her parents! Don't you just love her gorgeous 'toothy' smile?
And finally, over the page in the magazine, there's also this greeting card as well!
There was also an extra card that I made with some of the left-over supplies that the magazine hadn't requested but that I sent anyway but they didn't use - not to worry, I can share it with you now!
Until next time,
