Well - what a week it has been - one that has certainly been very eventful for me personally.
It began last Monday, when, after dropping the boys at school, I came home to continue making my homemade tomato sauce, I experienced this 'weird' visual disturbance. I had lots of flickering lights in my right eye, my vision became all distorted and then I lost my peripheral vision from that eye as well. Whilst it only lasted about 5 - 10 minutes, I'd never experienced anything like it and whilst there was no pain, it did concern me as to what it might have been caused by.
I tried to see my Dr. but he was unable and an initial attempt at trying to see an Optomotrist was unsuccessful until I described my symptoms and then they decided to see me later that very afternoon. The good news after this consultation was that, aside from being a little short sighted, my eyes were perfect and the general feeling was that I had suffered what is called a 'Visual Migraine' - something I had never heard of before (but of course 'Googled' it later that night to find out some more information. The Optomotrist advised that I should still seek advice from my Dr. - just to be on the safe side, which is what I did the following morning.
My Dr. tended to agree with the diagnosis from my Optomotrist but suggested that they run full blood tests as well as me getting a brain & spine CT scan - just to be sure everything was OK. Of course, me being the type of person that I am, spent quite a bit of this week thinking and thinking and thinking . . . yeah - I know I shouldn't have been doing that BUT that's just the way I am.
I had the blood tests done on Wednesday and the results came back on Friday marked all as 'normal' - YAY! I went into the hospital on Friday afternoon and had my CT scans - something I'd never undergone before and it wasn't until late this afternoon that I got the results of them - all NORMAL - YAY!
It's such a relief to know that whilst I did experience something unusual, there seems to be nothing 'serious' behind it . . . a 'Visual Migraine' is indeed what I experienced!
Well - now that this is all behind me, I'm hoping I can find my scrapping mojo - it seems to have gone missing! I had my local scrapbooking day last week and I just couldn't get into my creative zone all that well at all . . . here's to a more productive week ahead!
Until next time . . .
