'Premio Dardos' Award

I got a lovely email today from Penny to say that she has awarded me the 'Premio Dardos Award'. Thank-you so much Penny - what a lovely surprise!

Sky Watch - Sunset through a smokey haze

I've missed a couple of Sky Watch contributions BUT I thought I would share one this week with a photo I took earlier tonight of the sun setting in a somewhat smokey sky!

As you can see the very bottom of the sun is just finding it's way clear of the smokiness to shine a little more brightly!

On the homefront, James di really well at the Inter School Sports today - he was in the 4 x 50m Freestyle Relay and whilst the team finished in 5th position, James was the first in his team to swim and actually completed his leg of the race in 3rd position! Whilst totally out of breath at the end, he said he was really pleased with how he'd swam! As you can imagine we were too!

The boys also had their very last game of the Under 11's Cricket tonight too - their team did lose BUT James inparticular had a great game - he remained 6 not out, was involved in running out a member of the other team AND he also took a caught & bowled himself! He told us tonight "Gee I'm having a good week aren't I?" *grin*

March Scrappitpack *Sneak Peak*

I had so much fun working with one of the *soon to be released* March Scrappitpacks BUT unfortunately I can't share it with you just at the moment - I will however share a couple of *sneak peaks*

Don't you just love classic black and white pattern papers? I decided to add a few extra KaiserCraft pearls for a little added touch as well - gee I go through heaps of these things! They just add a lovely finishing touch!

On the homefront, I've been a little on the busy side preparing for James' 10th birthday celebrations on the weekend - his actual birthday is on Sunday BUT we decided to have his party with his friends a day early. This year, James really wanted a 10-pin bowling party BUT since our local one closed down last year, he has decided on a pool party at the local pool - he can't wait!

In other news, James also had his re-scheduled School Swimming Sports on Monday - he came 2nd in Freestyle, 2nd in Backstroke and 3rd in Breaststroke! He's so thrilled because he's made the 4 x 50m Freestyle Relay team for the inter school sports tomorrow - fingers crossed they do well!

Magazine / Book Mark

I spent this morning scrapping at a friend's house and amonst lots of chattering and sharing, I also showed them how to make one of my cute Magazine / Book Marks!

Aren't those owls just the cutest? I knew when I saw this particular Scrappitpack that I'd have to grab it before they sold out!

I also added some knotted organza ribbon, hand stitching and a few co-ordianting KaiserCraft pearls as well!

ATC - Dream, Reflect & Adventure

Today I thought I would share an Artist Trading Card - ATC - that I've made for the very talented Lucy - I do hope you like it!

The tree, apple and bird were stamped images; the grass was hand stitched and then then coloured with water-colour pencils; the edge of the ATC itself was inked with a little black ink; a little bling was added to highlight the tree and then some hand created words were added to finish off the overall design!

Go Kart Racing - 1st Place!

Well - it's taken James 18months of Go Kart Racing to achieve it BUT he finally won not only his first race win ever BUT his second race win AND then his first round win and therefore received his first ever FIRST place trophy!

It was a day filled with much excitement - he was racing in his new Go Kart and his practice times in it over the holiday break, had been quite favourable - he tells us that the kart sticks to the track better than the other one - but whether that would translate once he was racing remained to be seen.

So, today was the start of the 2009 Karting season and James had a simply fantastic day!

• Heat 1 - 1st
• Heat 2 - 1st
• Heat 3 - 2nd

• Final Race - 2nd

I'm not sure who was more excited to see James take out his first race win ever - James, his Dad OR his very proud Mum! To then go and win the second race was even more wonderful because we new that he was looking good for a great end of day result too! We just had our fingers crossed that he wouldn't be on the end of any misfortune. Thankfully, he had a relatively smooth run and although totally exhausted by the end of the day, he was declared the winner of the days racing in his Midget class!

As you can imagine, this trophy is not only going to school tomorrow for 'Show & Tell' BUT is going to be one he treasures for quite some time!

Congratulations James - we are all so very proud of your wonderful achievement today - see - patience and persistance does pay off!

More 'Happy Mail'

Recently I received an email from my blogging friend Aimeslee to say that she had won a 'One World - One Heart Giveaway' from Brenda AND that she had very graciously decided to RAK her win to me, since she had won a RAK from my blog some time ago! Thank-you once again Aimeslee - that was so very kind of you to think of me!

So - what did I win? These gorgeous Christmas Elf Shelf Sitters that arrived in the mail today! Thanks so much Brenda - they are so very cute indeed! Don't you just love their little faces!

I thought I would give another quick word of thanks to those who have emailed and queried about the fires in our part of the world. Whilst many are still burning, conditions are favourable for fire fighters - not so is the forecast for next week though with warmer temperatures about to return. We are all hoping that it just won't be so!

'Memory Gifts' Scrapbooking Pages

Today was my Longford Scrappers scrapbooking day and I decided to work on some of my Memory Gifts pages which will be later given to those people who have been affected by the Victorian Bushfires (click here to find out more information).

I'll just share a couple of sneak peak photos of the ones I finished today.

I'm hoping to get some more done in the next fortnight before I need to send them off and a number of the girls in my Longford Scrappers group are also going to contribute some pages as well, so we should have a wonderful collection to send through to Sarah!
