Occasion Cakes Album - Title Page

I thought I would share my version of the 'Missy Fit' Scrappitpack - this will be my title page for an album I'm going to put together featuring photos of decorated cakes that I've done over the years. I thought it would be nice to have them all collectively in one album together!

Here's a close-up of the hand cut flowers from the Dream Street Pattern Paper - I used Magic Mount foam tape to lift some sections of the hand cut flowers to add a little visual depth whilst other sections have been stuck flat to the background pattern paper.

It's Nearly 'MS Read-A-Thon' Time

MsreadathonJames has decided that he would like to do the 'MS Read-A-Thon' again this year - infact, this will be his 4th year of participation - not bad for a child who is only 9 years of age!

The 'MS Read-A-Thon' is Australia's premier reading-based fundraising program which helps to inspire 'Aussie' kids to read whilst at the same time, changing the lives of Australians who are living with Multiple Sclerosis - just like one of our family members.

To help his fundraising efforts, James has created a 'MS Read-A-Thon' webpage which we would dearly love for you to stop by and learn of his reading goals for this year - you can either click here OR on the 'MS Read-A-Thon' image in the left-hand menu. If you can see your way fit to make a donation (via his webpage or in person) that would be so VERY much appreciated.

Oh and we'll be sure to keep it updated on his progress once the actual 'MS Read-A-Thon' gets under way next month too!

Until next time . . .

Yay! Creativity Returns with KaiserCraft!

Yay! I've finished a scrapbooking page! Since I had that 'Visual Migraine', I just haven't felt inspired to be creative like I normally do - I know I've shared a few things here and there BUT my enthusiasm to want to get creative just hasn't been there.

Infact, I started this page at 'Longford Scrappers' last Thursday and it's just been sitting there since, just waiting for me to finish it off - well - I decided to bite the bullet and do just that AND I have to say, I'm quite pleased with the results!

It features a photo of James taken at my grandparents old Poultry Farm and the journaling reflects on how the photo gives a glimpse into the future and the teenager that he may become . . . here's what I wrote

"This photo was taken at your great grandparents’ old Poultry Farm in Yallourn North in August 2007.

I love the rustic old farm shed in the background and your great Grandfather’s old ‘Trewalla Jack’ that leans up against the shed beside you.

What attracts me most to this photo though is the image of you – even though you were only 8 ½ this photo gives us a glimpse into the future, a peek at the teenager you may become in a few short years."

The stars along the bottom are actually part of the KaiserCraft Grunge pattern paper and I cut the larger one on the right so that I could tuck the matted photo in behind it. The star at the top has actually been mounted onto chipboard to give it a little more depth and I used some of the co-ordinating KaiserCraft Brads and some buttons from my stash to dress up the page a little too!

Here's a couple of close-ups

'Creative Card' Album *Updated*

Whilst the creativity isn't flowing like I would like it to at the moment - *grin* - I thought I'd do a bit of updating to some of my blog albums - I've got a bit slack in uploading department I'm afraid!

I've started with my 'Creative Card' album . . . just scroll down in the left hand menu to find it!

Adam started AUSKICK today!

Well - most of us Aussie's know about Auskick BUT for my international readers, AusKick is the Australian Football League’s key introductory program for primary school-aged boys and girls and their families. Through their weekly coaching program kids learn the skills of the game through appropriately modified activities and rules, play football in a fun and safe environment and make plenty of new friends too! It's a hugely popular program too with some 161,000+ children from all over Australia take part in 2007!

James did Auskick when he was in Prep but decided that football just wasn't his thing. We thought however think it would be a great opportunity for Adam to get to do something for himself and whilst he was a little on the reluctant side initially, once he got signed up, received his registration pack (backpack, hat, drink bottle, snack box AND football) and was so VERY excited to go today and ca't wait to go back again next week!

Here's one of my favourite pics of him in action (with football upside down and all - *grin*)

Kidz 'R' Us Birthday Party

Let me start this post by saying thank-you to everyone for their lovely birthday wishes to Adam . . . today was his 'Birthday Party Day' and to say that the morning went slowly was an understatement - *grin* - the party was to start at 10am but as you can imagine, I did get asked numerous times whether it was time to go - *grin* - you have just got to love anticipation and exitement as far as kids are concerned don't you!

It would seem that all the kids had a terrific time though . . . infact one child reported that Adam's party was the best one EVER, so that has to be a good sign - *grin*

Here'a pic of Adam's Chocolate Cake with the pre-purchased 'Lightning McQueen' icing plaque - I must tell you that the cutting and serving the cake was funny . . . all the kids were picking out which piece of the car they wanted to eat . . . his light, his mount, his wheel, etc!

PLEASE - Vote for Nic as 'Bride of the Year'

Nicole_anderson_2I have a big favour to ask of my blog readers . . . a fellow 'Longford Scrapper' AND friend - Nicole Anderson - formally Nic Wright - (who's daughter is in Adam's grade at school too) - recently got married. Her wedding photos are just stunning . . . infact, check out her blog for some of them that she's shared - the sunflowers they grew themselves were just amazing!

Anyway . . . Nic has entered the 'Bride of the Year' competition and would dearly love as many votes as she can get and I thought I would ask if you could you spare a moment to vote for her?

All you need to do is click here to be taken to the voting page and then click on 'Vote for Nicole Anderson' - don't change the email subject or contents and just 'send' the email . . . nice and simple and it will only take you a moment to do.

Thanks in advance everyone AND good luck Nic!

2052047_2Oh - and I may as well give her a business plug too I suppose - *grin* - Nic is also a member of 'Butternut Snapz Photography' and so for all locals who might be interested, Nic can be contacted for in-home photography sessions.

Until next time . . .

Happy Birthday Adam!

Yes . . . my little boy had his 6th birthday TODAY!

Like all birthday's, he's got wonderfully spoilt - a few of his favourite gifts being new Pokemon cards, an electronic Pokemon Game, a new version 5 Tamagotchi and his first ever bike (he's only ever had his brother's old 'hand-me-down' one)! James had got a 20 inch bike for his 7th birthday and after letting Adam try and ride it. we decided that it was a little on the big side for him (we didn't want to invest in something smaller though that he'd outgrown in a couple of years either) so we decided to get this one - it's called a 20 inch 'Shortie' and as the name suggests it is shorter in the body length and in height than the standard 20 inch bike - AND - as you can see, Adam managed quite well to ride it too!

Happy_birthday_adam_bike

And here's the requested chocolate birthday cake (with jam and cream filling) with a new favourite Hot Wheels car on it - a lime green ute!

Happy_birthday_adam

Now the countdown begins - in two more sleeps he'll have his party with his school friends at 'Kids R Us' . . . I'm not sure who is more excited though - Adam OR the kids in his grade - *grin*

Until next time . . .

May Scrappitpack - Prima Paintables

I thought I would share my version of one of the May Scrappitpacks that are being released tomorrow . . . such a wonderful collection again this month - the little 'Birdie' one is just so cute!

I've always wanted to try the Prima Paintables and just hadn't got around to getting some . . . well - the Scrappitpack I got sent this month was just perfect and hopefully helped in getting back my creative mojo!

I decided to use my Watercolour Pencils to colour the background - starting first with the flowers and the leaves, and then moving onto the scrolls and then the background. Once the photos were added, I then defined the edges of the smaller ones with a little more watercolour pencil and then some bling to finish off the whole page!

I must admit it was lots of fun and I can't wait to get creative now with the second sheet that was in the Scrappitpack as well!
